A new
raw, organic, bean-to-bar brand called ‘iQ Chocolate’ has launched in the UK.
The company claims to have been scientifically proven to be good for you.
iQ Chocolate uses single origin sundried beans from Peru, which are stoneground at low temperatures, keeping it raw. The company notes that in addition to the flavour, this method helps retain high levels of nutrients and antioxidants, which can be lost in traditional methods of chocolate making. The chocolate is enhanced with organic coconut blossom nectar, a superfood which is high in potassium, magnesium, zinc and iron; a natural source of the vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and C.
These healthy ingredients combine to make organic, gluten free, dairy free, nut free chocolate, with no additives or artificial flavours.
iQ has teamed up with Robert Gordon University and the Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health at Aberdeen University to examine every stage of the bar-making process to maximise the nutritional value. It said it is continuing to work closely with both universities, doing additional research to further perfect the way they treat their ingredients.
Made from 72% Peruvian cocoa, iQ Chocolate is available in six flavours – plain, Espresso kick coffee, Plush Peppermint, Lovely Lime, Cocoa Nib, and Orange with wild raspberry.
Made in Scotland, iQ Chocolate is one of only five chocolate makers in the UK and its creators Kate and Jane are the only women in the country making chocolate direct from the bean.
