Weetabix has become the latest food major to
offer a breakfast drink, as it looks to tap into the growing demand for
on-the-go products. The new drink, called ‘Weetabix On The Go’, will be
available in the UK in January.
The company said the launch was “a pioneering move for the breakfast category”, which it estimates will be worth £300m by 2015. The products will be sold in three flavours - vanilla, chocolate and strawberry – at an RRP of £1.39.
Francesca Davies, Marketing manager at Weetabix, noted: “The breakfast on the move category is expected to grow more so over the next three years and we want Weetabix to be leading the charge. Our customers look to us as Britain's ultimate breakfast expert and we have a responsibility to ensure that they get what they need, but get it in a way that's suitable for today’s many different lifestyles.”
